Boldo Extract, 2 oz.

Boldo Extract, Peumus boldo leaf, 2 oz.

Peumus boldo comes from the Chilean Andes and has a marvelous minty aroma. It is a stomachic and digestive aid, particularly beneficial for people with a tendency towards gall stone formation, especially when such conditions give rise to pain. It is also useful for genito-urinary inflammations. In South America, it is regarded as a cure for gonorrhea. Further north, it is considered useful for hepatic congestion and is often used by veterinarians for jaundice. Holy Basil, Ocinum sanctum leaf & flower, 2 oz.

The leaves of Ocimum sanctum are sometimes added to grains to repel insects. They contain essential oils that recent research suggests may also improve pancreatic function and the ability to secrete insulin. Studies involved a small number of persons with type II diabetes and the dosage was 2.5 grams per day on an empty stomach just before meals. The studies showed a reduction in the levels of blood sugar and cholesterol. Tulsi may also be a COX-2 inhibitor as it contains the same pain relieving eugenol as known analgesics.

Jatobá Extract, Hymenaea courbaril bark, 2 oz.

Contains: Hymenaea courbaril bark, extracted in organic grain alcohol. Jatoba has demonstrated antifungal as well as antibacterial properties against a wide range of molds, yeasts, and microorganisms such as E. coli, Psuedomonas, and Staphylococcus. Traditionally, jatoba is used to increase stamina. It has none of the side effects of caffeine or ephedra. Clinicians are discovering that it is useful in cases of cystitis and prostatitis, often not for the reasons thought: these conditions may be associated with fungal infections. Jatoba is non-toxic, but it has a blood sugar lowering effect and should be monitored with patients with blood sugar regulation issues.

Pau d'Arco Extract, 2 oz.

Pau d'Arco Extract, Tabebuia heptaphylla bark, 2 oz.

Pau d'arco is one of the most well known South American herbs. It has a reputation for having anti-cancer, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. It is also used to purify the blood and regulate blood sugar. Like many herbs with ethnobotanical traditions strongly suggestive of antitumoral properties, pau d'arco seems to benefit some patients more than others. It is widely believed to work better with patients with elevated levels of Candida albicans.

The earliest modern studies of pau d'arco were published by Dr. Theodore Meyer who successfully used it to cure very advanced cancers, especially leukemia. Some of his findings were questioned by those who attempted to attribute all results to a single compound. As with most herbs, the whole herb often protects against toxicity of the strongest chemical constituent, in this case, lapachol. In clinical trials, low doses stimulate immunity whereas higher doses reduce inflammation often associated with stimulation. As might be expected of an herb with antifungal properties, it helps to reduce allergic reactions.
